What’s new in Chatel for 2014/5

There’s never been a better time to ski in Chatel.  Here’s some of the fantastic developments happening for the 2014/5 winter season.

1) New lifts to link Super Chatel and Linga

This exciting project, 20 years in the planning, will mean the whole of Chatel’s ski domain can be accessed without taking your skis off.  The linking point is at Lac de Vonnes, just above the village centre where there’ll be a fast 4 man chair to whisk you over to the Linga area, and a new 6 man going up to Super Chatel with a blue piste winding back down through the trees. It’s expected the link will be fully open at the beginning of January.

2) New magic carpets at Pre La Joux and Super Chatel

Great news for beginners and those skiing with little ones – 2 new magic carpet lifts are being put in at Pre La Joux and Super Chatel.  These conveyor belt type lifts are the easiest way to transport children to the top of nursery slopes, and will further enhance the ski area for first time skiers and family groups.

3) Save the date for ‘Rock The Pistes 2015′

This fantastic week- long music festival is scheduled for 14th to 21st March with different acts performing on mountain top stages in each of the Portes du Soleil resorts, as well as apres events at the foot of the slopes every day.  It’s a truly unique experience to watch a rock concert in your ski boots – and all the gigs are free with your Portes du Soleil lift pass!  Last year’s line up featured some amazing acts including Babyshambles and The Klaxons.  This season’s bands are due to be announced in November.

4) New swimming pool complex – Forme d’O

The new aquatic centre opened in Chatel this summer and we can say only good things about it!  Forme d’O is situated right in the centre of Chatel and features indoor and outdoor heated pools, jets and fountains as well as a wellness area for adults with steam rooms, saunas and a fully fitted gym.
