Chatel Reviews

Chatel is a charming ski resort based in the Northern French Alps, literally on the border with Switzerland.  Chatel is a traditional farming town which has developed into a World class ski resort in the heart of the Portes du Soeil.  With over 650km of pistes there is an abundance of skiing for all abilities and the breath-taking scenery will stay with you long after your visit.

At Nine & Tenne we are proud to be Chatel exclusive and have been skiing here for over 25 years.  The resort and infrastructure has developed over this time, however the area still retains its Savoyard charm.  We love Chatel with it’s unique style and beautiful mountains.  We love the fact it’s still relatively undiscovered, we love the local cheese and we love the unlimited ski terrain.   So as you can see we are a bit biased and we think it’s a good idea to be impartial when giving advice to people looking to holiday in the area.  As such we have put together a few impartial reviews to give you some help and advice when planning your next ski holiday.

The Telegraph – Chatel resort guide

Unlike most resorts linked to major ski areas, Châtel remains relatively unspoiled and retains a very French feel, with a life outside tourism, there are still around 30 working farms.

This guide is taken from Where to Ski and Snowboard, edited by Chris Gill and Dave Watts

On the snow – Chatel Overview

Enjoy the unique atmosphere of Châtel, a traditional styled mountain village which, in winter, transforms into ski resort. The village has been carefully developed in order to keep all the old charm and character but at the same time offering all the modern amenities of a new ski resort.

Snow forecast – Independent reviews by people who have stayed in Chatel

Chatel is arguably the best sector in the PDS. Great variety of pistes, charming village, relaxed atmosphere, excellent restaurants, great for families, beautiful views, good value and only 75 minutes from Geneva. Links well into snow sure Avoriaz. Some great off-piste. Chatel has invested heavily in new lifts and the new link from the village to Linga is fantastic.

Mountain Passions –Chatel

With its neat scatter of individual chalets huddled against the mountainside, Châtel provides a traditional alternative to purpose-built ski villages.

Snow Magazine – Chatel review

Chatel ski resort is one of the principal resorts in the vast French-Swiss cross-border Portes du Soleil ski area. Chatel is still a working farming community and so retains much of its rustic Alpine village charm, making it a great ski holiday destination for families and couples.

We know your holiday time is precious and we know it’s important to choose the right ski resort especially if you are the group organiser and everybody is expecting greatness. As such if you have any questions about Chatel and the ski area please do not hesitate to get in touch.  We will be happy to share our local knowledge and help you choose the perfect place for your next ski holiday.

Absolutely fantastic week. The chalet was gorgeous, spacious and lovely bedrooms. Paddy was a great host. The skis were delivered to the chalet which saved so much hassle as were the ski passes. Paddy booked our restaurants before we arrived. Cannot recommend more highly!! We will come back.

We enjoyed a fantastic week at Nine & Tenne's Chalet Savoyard. The chalet was extremely well appointed and housed all 12 of us across 3 generations very comfortably. Paddy could not have been more accommodating and helpful (including installing a fully decorated Christmas tree!) and we can highly recommend the meal delivery service that Paddy organised for us. The chalet is in a great location, a 10 minute walk into the centre of the village and a short drive from all the skiing locations. Many thanks to Paddy and the owner for a great week.

Having had the most amazing Christmas week with Nine and Tenne at their chalet - Grand Coeur, it’s a shame we can only give it five stars! Paddy and the chalet team of Tess, James and Jake we’re so accommodating of all our needs especially with our toddler and made our stay so comfortable and unforgettable. A highlight was the restaurant quality food and service each night. The organisation was flawless from the moment we booked and we would highly recommend Nine and Tenne. We will certainly be returning! Thank you for everything guys (even the ski tours!)

From initial communication with Paddy to the end of our holiday everything with Nine & Tenne was of the highest standard. Les Clarines is as beautiful as it appears in the photos, was very clean and was a very special place to celebrate a family Christmas. The Chalet is in a perfect location with stunning views of the village and mountains and very close to Petit Chatel bus stop. We are a family of 5 adults and enjoyed the hot tub and space within the Chalet, there are a number of bathrooms, an open plan layout and a kitchen where we could easily prepare our Christmas Dinner. Thanks to everyone at Nine and Tenne.

One of the loveliest chalets we have stayed in, large rooms, private swimming pool. We had food delivered to the chalet so we could eat when we like, shopping was done for us when we arrived. Skis brought to the chalet. Paddy, who owns and runs the chalet, is lovely, friendly, always there to answer questions and run us any where on request, the perfect host. Fabulous holiday with views to die for. X
